If you suffer from dental phobia, you are not alone. Many people keep from seeing their dentist when they are needing treatment and also not going to their preventative cleanings and checkups because of anxiety. You don’t want to avoid dental treatments because early treatment is better for your oral health. Our practice is pleased to offer our patients sedation dentistry to help with dental anxiety.
At San Tomas Signature Smiles our goal is to help you feel safe while getting the care you need. We offer you a safe environment while treating your dental issue with the quality of care you deserve. The sedation treatments we offer include nitrous oxide, oral sedation, and IV sedation to help you feel calm and comfortable during your procedure. So what do you need to know?
Nitrous Oxide – also known as laughing gas, is administered as sedative gas mixed with oxygen which you inhale during the procedure. All you need to do is sit back, relax and breathe. That’s it! Once the procedure is finished, the effects of the gas will wear off and you will be good to go.
Oral Sedation – with oral sedation, you will simply take an oral sedative prior to your appointment. You will feel relaxed and calm at the time of your procedure and during your treatment.
IV Sedation – during this method, we will administer sedation medication through your veins. Sometimes known as twilight sleep, it works quickly while allowing us to adjust the medication levels during the procedure as needed. You will still be conscious, but relaxed enough that you might fall asleep during the procedure. Some people don’t remember much of the procedure because of this. After the procedure you will need to have someone drive you home, so bring a friend to your appointment.
Don’t let dental phobia keep you from getting the treatment you need. With our sedation dentistry options there is no more need to put off necessary treatment or routine checkups and cleanings.
